I'm fairly certain Nintendo knows how to code slopes.
I mean 3/4 base games supported those originally. It shouldn't be that hard for them.

I know they know. It just takes time. Patience my, um... well you aren't my child. But I guess you were just stating that there should have already been slopes on release. We just have to experiment with what we already got.

I feel like slopes could possibly be planned DLC based on their presence in the Mario Maker Smash stage.

I'm still irrationally hoping for the color palette selector.
But hey checkpoints were the most needed thing and now we have them, so I can't complain.

Why would I pay 70 dollars for a level editor with less features, when SMBX has more features, and is free?

I got it day of release on the Nintendo store, made some levels, played some levels... haven't played it much since. However, I decided to play 100 mario challenge on hard mode a couple weeks ago, and I learned to appreciate how shitty usermade levels are for the most part.

I'm pretty sure they would probably only get into the average category here.

Mario Maker has its advantages and disadvantages when it comes to SMBX. One thing I do like about the SMM community is that people are more about having fun and playing levels than how perfectly designed a level is. Then again I design kaizo so I obviously don't know what I'm talking about

Something I've noticed about Mario Maker is that cutoff, for example, isn't really an issue, since the editor automatically "snaps" ground tiles and some similar objects together unlike SMBX where you have to use the proper blocks for each tile. That's probably a reason why people don't complain about cutoff as much as they do in communities like SMBX and SMW Central - in addition to people generally being more laid back and less serious about level design overall in the Mario Maker community. That can be a good or bad thing, I guess, depending on how you look at it.

I personally like using Mario Maker. It's fun to see what people can come up with in terms of levels design and I like trying to pour my own creativity into it from time to time, as in about 2 or 3 uploaded courses per month.

I really appreciate that the game has been updated with stuff that people had been requesting for a long time, like the midpoints and key coins. That's great. I feel like Nintendo is legitimately getting better at this sort of stuff lately, even if Mario Maker still doesn't have slopes aaaarcghh

in enjoy MM since its release and to me it is super fun because you never know what levels you're gettin next. and there are many people who made genius level. I also enjoy the kaizo stuff alot from carlsagan, panga, nowieso, barbarian, cheatrsCop,... etc, the SMB1 costumes, and all the crazy stuff who surprises me every day.. I would not say it is like SMBX. it is something complete other, but its great.

the kaizo community in smm is awesome. i'd also like to mention nintendo while adding all these cool new things also manages to totally mess up stuff like p-switches that now have a super low frame window to jump off of where before you had an entire 9 frames
