Bug Report:
Spoiler for level 28: show
Not sure how this one got under the radar.
Spoiler for level 32: show
So apparently, Turtiwg is coded over Peach and if you bring a power-up into that fight (Such as a Mr Cruel Cookie), Turtwig turns into Fire Peach. (I believe this is just a graphical bug as gameplay is NOT affected at all. The only gameplay breaking part is that you lose the powerup after beating the boss. I assume it happens in Reunited or not. Allows Turtwig/Peach to launch normal fireballs as well, but Zlaker is immune to them.

That... makes no sense. Are you able to give more information about how I could try to reproduce this issue? What does "go into" mean exactly? Beat? Die and re-enter? Exit through pause menu and re-enter? Exit by closing the window and re-enter? Did the file actually get deleted or did progress just reset to zero?
Added in 2 hours 51 minutes 6 seconds:
But before I get to understanding that bug.. don't wanna delay on 1.0.3, since there's a couple of stuff in it already:
As always, the download links are the same.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1L8IAu2 ... sp=sharing
Changelog:
- Added a version check. If you don't have Patch 3, the game will now prompt you to update, and then violently explode.
- Made a secret area more accessible
- Added back in a secret area that became unused at some point during development
- Fixed confusion between two speedrun achievements
- Fixed a bug where Achievement 35 was unobtainable
- Fixed a bug where you could play as Peach
- Fixed a bug where speedrun mode was able to set/use the final boss level checkpoint flag. Speedruns of the final boss now always start at Phase 1
- Revamped the "Save + Quit" menu option to prevent returning to the legacy main menu. This prevents a save file overwrite bug.
- Attempt to fix a bug where crashing during speedrun mode could softlock you.
- Added an extra collider update when projectile colliders get spawned, preventing unfair hits against Mortimer and making first-frame colliders more predictable
- Fixed a bug where dying while not playing as the main character could crash lua
- Changed palette of diagonal podoboos in the conveyor level to be less eye-straining
- Resolved a clipping issue on the world map

Can you share that error message? Stuff like your options setup would also be helpful.

Hm... I have a hunch. Thanks for elaborating. Will reply later when I learn more about this.

Sound a lot like what I had:
Though I THINK it comes from leaving SMBX open for too long, but I have no clue. Version 1.03 should fix some of that specific issue.
Edit: As the download for the patch from 1.01→1.02 is the same as 1.02→1.03, I am having to redownload the entire episode again since I do not know if the "Patch" download works for those going from 1.00→1.03 or 1.01→1.03.
Edit: Sometimes, collecting a Magnet does not count:
Screenshot proof is from level 37: show
(This also happened to me in level 21 in 1.01)

As for memory leak: I can reproduce it, but I don't know where it comes from just yet.
As for patch: The main post says it's for upgrading a previous install. The link is always the same. The zip includes all patches.
As for magnets not counting: That makes no sense. I need a more precise statement than "sometimes". Do you perform a specific move that causes it to fail?
Added in 35 minutes 37 seconds:
Okay, this one's pretty important, so I'm giving it its own patch. I don't know how it got past testing.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1L8IAu2 ... sp=sharing
1.0.4:
- Fixed a bug where attempting to purchase too many items would crash the game.

Depends on how you count. There are 53 level files, so definitely not more than that. 50 if you remove outro, world map and main hub. 40 if you exclude levels that are only bosses. 35 if you also exclude bonus content.

The "Sometimes not collecting magnets" is still not known to me. Just once in level 21 and twice in level 37. As I am on level 44 (In correlation to the Spinda-Café list,) I am not able to test that bug unless I go to a new safe file (as I assume I am on the final level with Magnets based on my Magnet counter which is 139/142.)

Well, the time has come for me to have a say in this. First and foremost I want to apologize for how I came across in discodehaus, I was having a rough time and I couldn't help but vent my frustration. That was wrong of me. Now with that behind me, I can finally get to share my experience.
The aesthetic synergy of this episode was phenomenal. It quite literally felt like I was playing a game I bought on Steam, everything was unique and interesting. The music fit to a teeth and so did the sound design. I can say for sure this episode ain't getting a thumbs down on terms of looks not even by a longshot.
In terms of structure and overall difficulty, I must say that it's kinda all over the place. Some levels feel too hard at points and later levels feel easy, the latter proving to be a downside from me. If I were to name a level that fell under that category that would be Bounceburg, one that has proven to me that you can make a level with a promising gimmick boring. Now that may have something to do with my frustration at the time, but I can't lie about this one. Towards the end the difficulty gets stupid too, looking at the final level. Beating it normally isn't that bad, except for the final section, but getting the Magnets is a freaking nightmare. Also for the last level before the portal doing three bosses is pretty insane without Time and Hat Cookies.
Then there's the final boss. The first and the final phase weren't such a problem for me, did them in a breeze, but the second phase can kiss my ass. Some of the attacks are way too brutal and expect the player to be some kind of dodging god, specifically talking about the multiple Marina laser attack.
With that out of the way, I can finally get to talk about the levels that I actually enjoyed. For starters, Pepper Falls is a phenomenal level. The jetpack-like ability the Pepper drink grants is a neat yet simple idea to expand upon the spin hover ability and leads to really fun challenges, the music constantly pumping you up while you're playing. Funky Area, the first level of Tower of EZ is my absolute favorite level in the entire episode. It's fast paced, it's simple, and it's packed with a lot of challenges that are fun to beat. It also reminded me a lot of Megaman, making me feel like I was playing through Wily's Fortress, feeling definitely appreciated. Next up is Library of the Cosmos, the lamp gimmick is awesome and fun to use. And the music reminded me a lot of Harry Potter, and as a fan listening to it was euphoric to say the least. And finally, so as to not take too long, Bubblebath Path is an amazing level too. The music is so serene and the platforming is fair and simple. This is an example of an exceptional level, utilizing a simple NPC with only two variations and expanding upon it in a magnificent way.
The bosses were also amazing (final boss second phase notwithstanding), building up difficulty in a neat way, except for the spring boss, but no biggie. Hardmode Forsty though is a bit crazy too, but nothing like Marina, thankfuly. If I were to name my favorite boss I'd say it's a tie between the Temple Guardian and Mortimer V2.
As for functionality, I doubt I'm the first one to point this out, haven't read the thread or discord messages so I can't confirm, but Turtwig's death flag results in a crash that promptly and quite fortunately ends in the map being reloaded, thanks about that. I got a Lua error while going into the drawing thing in the basement of the Oasis' watermill, can't seem to reproduce it but it had to do with me pressing a lot of buttons real fast while trying to figure out a way to get out of it. Lua stopped working altogether after that and had to close it and relaunch the game. The Blue Block with a grind that you need to hit in order for it to go up should probably handle the vertical movement onTick too because if you get hurt while it's going up when the invinsibility frame counter finishes and you're tangible to harmful NPCs the block can actually push you into blocks killing you and during the sawblade section of the final level softlock as well.
I think I have said enough. I could go into much more detail but I don't feel like making a ten paragraph long review. Let me say this, I had fun playing through the game. But I find it too frustrating at times, and good ideas and pleasing graphics can't blind me from seeing them. I have noticed that I have enjoyed levels from one creator more than the others, if I were to arrange them in order from the ones I enjoyed the most to the ones I enjoyed the least here's how I would rank them:
Enjl > Waddle > snoruntpyro
I know more people worked on levels in pairs with one of these three, but they seem to be the primary level designers of this episode so I shall rank them accordingly. This is not to say that basic concepts of level design weren't applied, but rather that the levels produced by these designers were either creative, fun, and challenging, or creative, unfun, and frustrating.

Thanks for the review! If you want me to actually take a look at those bugs, please include the error messages. I think the first one you've mentioned might have been fixed in 1.0.3, but the second one is not one I have heard of before.

No problem. I actually enjoyed myself.
I have been trying to reproduce it but to no avail. I'm unsure as to what caused it, for all I know it could only happen when doing something super specific, so for all intents and purposes there might as well be no error. I wish I had taken a screenshot of it back then had I known how difficult it is to make it appear.
