So after a little talk with Blue and Spinda, the three of us decided to do a collab project called



Basically the concept is a remake of SMB1 for SMBX, but with our own twists.

Here is an example, taken from world 7-1:
The idea is basically that we take the levels and worlds from the original SMB1 and assign them themes from newer SMB games. The worlds will be as follows:

World 1 - Grass - Mushroom Kingdom Plains
World 2 - Beach - Soda Beach
World 3 - Snow - Slippy Snow Land
World 4 - Desert - Dry Dry Desert
World 5 - Forest - Forest of Illusion
World 6 - Mountains - Vanilla Mountain
World 7 - Clouds - Nimbus Land
World 8 - Lava - Vista Hill
World 9 - Starworld - Rainbow Road
Minus World - ??? - ???

This should be done relatively soon hopefully this decade, seeing as the levels are already there in a way, and we have a team of three people, each of which will have to do 12 levels.

I love your project.
Though mine is going to be non linear and not based off of the original SMB1 levels that much, I really like the look of yours.
If I'm using the same graphics as yours, does that mean it's copying yours?

Wow, this looks like it'll be a lot of fun to play. Will the levels be short like the original's, or will they be extended somehow?

The level will mostly keep their original size, but we'll try to make them as enjoyable as possible. :)

I'm getting some Mario Forever vibes from this.

I feel as though SMB1 "revival episodes" usually end up being a flop, but hey, this doesn't look half bad. The levels look beautiful and well-designed. It looks like a lot of effort is going into reimagining the levels instead of merely porting them with minor differences. I'm especially interested in that shadowy level.

This is awesome! Not only is the design and graphics great, but you have inspired me. I will make something like this, except in Super Mario Bros. 2.

Nah, jk, first of all we want to finish SMB1X, and with CC10 starting a few days ago and school and stuff we're all pretty busy anyway. Besides that, after SMB1X we may not directly do SMB2X, but maybe something else, though I'm not gonna promise or reveal anything yet since that's just a vague idea.

We might do more to this in the future, but atm we only have plans for SMB1X and not really anything else. Even if we had, no one would prevent you from doing it.

This project looks awesome, finally someone decided to really remake SMB1. Looking foward for this.

I'm making a SMB3 remake (SMB3XR), there's no problem right?

This project looks lovely! Love how the levels still have a SMB1 feel to them, but with slightly more complex design and a nice personal touch as well. Aesthetics also look pretty neat, and definitely feel like something out of a more modern SMB1. Neat job!

How about you add a lost levels section?
