Super Mario and the Rainbow Stars is a new project developed by me, aka the creator of sm2dux. It aims to bring the unique traits of the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series into a fun 2D platformer. The story of this project is about Mario and his new friends going on an adventure to gather the Rainbow Stars that were scattered throughout the many chapters that Mario and Co will discover. The Rainbow Stars were scattered because of a new foe called Lord Dark Star. This all happened in a mystical far away place called the Rainbow Ruins. Lord Dark Star is on a mission to collect all of the Rainbow Stars to get all the power to consume the world in darkness. Through out the journey, Mario discovers how useful his friends can be with their unique abilities and fun personalities! Who is Lord Dark Star exactly? What is he up to? Find out the rest yourself while playing!
* Fixed an issue where a cutscene frame would appear behind Mario during the boss in 1-1.
* Fixed an issue where a sprite of a bomb would appear suspended in the air during the boss in 1-1.
* Fixed an issue where a sprite of a fireball would appear suspended in the air in 1-1.
* Fixed an issue where if you would skip the dialogue during the cutscene in Toad Town, the dialogue would still appear at the chapter screen.
* Fixed an issue where Starry's target would duplicate when going off-screen vertically while holding him.
* Fixed an issue where the effect when collecting a mushroom would randomly appear.
* Fixed an issue where sometimes when killing a Kaboomba in 1-8, a shell would appear.
* Fixed an issue where you could move at the start of the auto scroll section in 1-3.
* Fixed an issue where going from above, a checkpoint would not be collected in 1-3.
* Fixed an issue where in the second section of 1-4, you could swim above the ceiling at a certain point.
* Fixed an issue where the giant thwomp during the chase section in 1-5 could be killed by switch blocks.
* Fixed an issue where beating 1-6, the level would not end on rare occasions.
* Fixed an issue where the background during the Blotch boss fight would move when having 2.5D backgrounds turned off.
CHANGES:
* Removed some enemies and made some setups easier in 1-1.
* The dolphin ride section in 1-7 has been made slightly easier.
* Made the power up system after restarting the level from a checkpoint in 1-3 consistent with 1-6.
* Removed an invisible ceiling near the last Rainbow Shard in 1-4.
* Increased the speed when using the frog suit from 1.7 to 1.9.
* Pausing during the chase segment in 1-8 has been disabled to prevent issues.
* 1-7 has been updated slightly to fix some tiling errors.
The next patch will focus on fixing an issue in 1-6 where dying could cause the game to crash, and will also try and further reduce lag.
That's an amazing project there! Very interesting concepts like the partners and unique plot. I bet this will be more better than SM2DUX as well, I'd recommend checking out this project!
The work and effort I've seen gone into this project is astounding, and I just get the vibe this is a literal Mario fangame despite it being built on the 38A engine. It came a long way from the evolution I witnessed, and sure as heck has my support. Here is to hoping this project will be one of the best ones to walk on the forums, cheers!
This isn't SMBX anymore, this is a totally different game and I LOVE it! The ambience of it feels fresh, mixing a little of Paper Mario (bc of the partners) and clasic Mario games. Looks really really awesome!! ^w^ ^w^
