Should KingBowser24 upload his Noob Episode?

Why not give it a shot and upload it?

Should I upload my 'Noob' Episode?

Postby KingBowser24 » Mon Jan 25, 2016 9:49 pm

So I am in a bit of a predicament here. I have an Episode that i made back in 2012, called "Stephanie's Quest".
As the name suggests, it is mostly with my own characters, and a young girl named Stephanie is, well, the main protagonist. I'll reveal more about the plot & characters if I decide to upload this.

-I made this 4 years ago, in the summer of 2012. It's actually the first full episode I made, and completed. And, i have to admit, the only "full" episode I've completed (I have done a few minisodes), and has 7 worlds with 4 levels in each world, along with a few extra levels, like the ones where you go to fight The Monster, the antagonist, in. (The "Monster" is basically Bowser  )

-There aren't very many custom sprites, theres Stephanie, which uses Link as the base, Jackson, who basically plays Toad's Role and is a supportive character throughout the game, Faith, who is Steph's best friend, and the one who got kidnapped. Also theres a few misc. BGOS and enemies that I created. So the episode mostly uses vanilla graphics, but almost all the music is custom.

-Like the title suggests, I made this when i was a noob, and i was literally JUST figuring out how to use layers and events and all that good stuff, when i started making Stephanie's Quest. So, the levels aren't great, but I wouldnt say they are terrible though. I actually uploaded 4 levels from the episode, and 3 were landed into the "Average" category, and one was trash can. :? So I'd say most of the levels are pretty average. Though I wouldn't doubt there's a few decent levels that are worth playing as well, I tend to spend more time on the Dungeon/Boss levels ;)

-Now some may ask "But KingBowser, why don't you just revamp your episode, then upload it?" I have two reasons for that, one, I dont really have time these days to re-create an episode, between school, work, and all that.
Second, I really don't want this episode that i made 4 years ago, when i was a completely different guy, to lose its originality. And the episode is pretty solid and playable, I've played through it many times. :D
,
So, that should be all i need to say, to tell you guys what this is like. Basically, the episode isn't anything to write home about, but its playable. What i want to know is if i should upload Stephanie's Quest or not, it being a Noob Episode. Thanks. haha

P.S.
There is a sequel that has been slowly in the making, that is so far pretty improved over the original. It has a slightly different plot, but The Monster is still the main villain. However, with how things are going in real life, it probably wont be finished anytime soon :(

Definitely at least keep it. It's something you can look back on and see how far you've come creatively.

You'll never know if even one person liked it if you don't share it.

Do the both.

Try to upgrade your episode to the best you can now that you have time. Then it will be a very good episode. If you don't, it can be a not so good episode like you said.

However, if you feel lazy, you can try launch it now. But you can't except what people would say about your episode.

There's a difference between noob and newbie. Noob implies you have already been involved with the topic at hand for a moderately long time and did not acquire skills you could've easily acquired in the time period in which you were involved with it.
Newbie just means you were new and didn't know a lot about the topic yet.

Ah, that makes sense. "Newbie" episode it is!
