How do you use the Clown Car?

As far as I can tell, it's just a platform.

It's too easy, you just must place on it and press "down" and the character going to enter in the clown car, then you going to start to fly pressing the arrows. Very simple

Yeah, it sounds simple, but I've tried that like a million times and it has never worked. I don't know what the deal is.

If you have any holdable items or any mounts like a boot or yoshi it won't work. You basically have to hold nothing in order to actually ride in the clown car.

That's not the problem. I just can't use it, even though I tried everything. Up until now, I thought that it just wasn't finished being programmed.
