[Playable] Yoshi's Island-styled Yoshi

Hello! This is a custom playable that mimics YI Yoshi and that I've been working on for quite a while. It also comes with 4 eggs and their accompanying egg blocks, 3 melons, the little star guy, and normal and hidden ? clouds. Enjoy!

Released a minor update to fix Yoshi not being able to hit ?-blocks.

It wasn't actually to do with Yoshi, it was the egg blocks, so yes.

been playing around with this a lot already and found a few inconsistencies with the original game. im only gonna point these out in case you intend on updating this in the future, but i in no way intend to pressure you into releasing an update, as these inconsistencies are pretty minor.

  • in the original game, you can press up while aiming to change the direction that yoshi's aim is rotating to move above him. holding up allows you to constantly aim up without the need to fix your aim in place, making aiming up a little bit easier
  • in the original game, you can crouch to exit out of aiming mode
  • in the origial game, you can activate ?-Clouds with spat enemies
  • ?-clouds that contain stars, 1-ups or coins do not drop to the floor before exploding in the original game
  • when throwing an egg in the original game, the aim "cursor" remains on-screen with its red frame for a moment
  • i can't fact check this at the moment, but i'm pretty sure you could aim upwards with melons in the original game
  • yellow and red egg blocks, in the original game, turn into the eggs, meaning you can only get one egg from them. although this might just be a deliberate change, i cant tell
  • the death sprite seems to always show up as green yoshi, regardless of what yoshi youre playing as
  • licking eggs in the original game would make them hop towards yoshi, making them easier to pick up
these are just really minor things though and i really like what youve done. once again, these are just nitpicks and i am not trying to shout at you to update anything, just figured i'd point out these things i noticed.

When I try to put the files in an Episode, and load into a level. Mario won't appear. (I put a block to turn into Yoshi in the level) I litterally installed the game again just to make sure It wasn't my fault. Help

Copy and paste all the files in the folder into your episode. Then, Klonoa will be replaced by Yoshi.

You should probably see about getting this character its own slot, I think Yoshi was one of the characters considered for being made into a 2.0 basegame character?

If you plan on adding more to this pack, how about recreating the pipe enemy generators from Yoshi's Island that stops generating enemies when Yoshi's egg inventory is full.

Hello. I am aware that there was an issue with Mario not appearing before in a level. Even with smwMap, when you enter into a level, Mario still does not appear. But this is only an issue when you play an episode's save file, not through the level tester in the PGE editor. If you need any more information, I will try my best to provide the information.

Nice list. To add to to this some things that would be nice to see are eggs being used to collect collectables, crates opening with a ground pound and breakable dirt being breakable with melon seeds.

accidentally discovered a bug regarding interactions between yoshi and a vanilla npc, but not sure if it can be fixed without changing the npc itself

if you eat a boomerang brother and don't spit it out or turn it into an egg, it can still fire boomerangs while in your mouth
the same doesn't seem to apply to the fire brother
