Strange lag problem

Postby TTTTTsd » Fri May 09, 2014 3:17 pm

This is a...very weird problem that I haven't seen a lot of posts about, if any. The lag is not from the actions going on themselves, with sound disabled it runs completely smooth. But when a sound effect plays, the game very frequently lag spikes on this PC, and I have no idea why. I can post my specs but I don't think it's required given I've narrowed this problem down, but is there any apparent solution?

Maybe your computer has a hard time dealing with the sound files. Maybe you could try to uninstall SMBX then reinstall it.

I would like to point out that this is waste of time to do, because it doesn't work; sorry. It's not SMBX's problem if your sound files aren't working; it's your computer. Regardless, there wasn't any substantial reason for why I replied this thread, considering I don't have a solution to your issue, but I just wanted to point out that uninstalling and reinstalling a program doesn't work if it's related to MP3 files. However, if uninstalling and reinstalling does help, than that would be weird, quite frankly.

I hope you can get this solved soon.

So, bumping this because I DID solve it, and it was an amazing discovery! After updating my community codec pack for various codecs, I realized that LAV Splitter was not turned on for MP3 files. I turned it on, and ran SMBX as I was dealing with the lag spikes and playing episodes regardless and...they were gone. My only guess is LAV Splitter takes the stress out of loading the MP3 files and makes it smoother. Just posting this solution up for anyone who may have experienced what I have!
