Re: Character Creation/Approval ThreadYou guys are failing to realize how massive the Mario universe is and how much potential there is and that really disappoints me. It shows you lack patience and flexibility as a roleplayer. At least make the attempt to join. There are so many possibilities for this roleplay and a lot of you aren't giving it a chance. Like, sorry that the Marioverse has some minor limitations that doesn't let you make your special snowflake. Tough.

Re: Character Creation/Approval ThreadMy backstory is pretty lazily written so chances are I'll rewrite it, approved or not.
Name: Rathanael Gender: Male Age: Young Adult Species: Boomerang Bro Appearance: Tannish, orangish body & underbelly, like regular hammer bros & koopas. He has a blue shell and helmet. On his left arm, he has a bandana kind of think with the Blue Oyster Cult symbol. (Don't judge me) Personality: On normal circumstances, he's very laid back, but with a stern face. He doesn't understand much referencing or abstract jokes, nor really laugh at many jokes, not that he gets offended. On occasions, he'll have good one-liners. However, he is a little narcissistic, and usually expects himself to come first. From past experiences, he doesn't like bloody conflict or standing in front of critical crowds. However, put him under pressure, and he quickly turns very high-strung as he doesn't handle high pressure situations. There are some things that will set a trigger too, like Goomboss and any of the Koopa Kids & Bowser Jr. Background: As a kid, Rathanael was born into a very wealthy and high-up hammer bro family in the koopa side of the mushroom kingdom. His father was a business bro, and that's just a small part of what his family is. He's got a brother, Azriel, who is a fire bro, whom he was always with as a kid. Being apart of the bloodline they're in, they both enlisted and easily got toward the top in Bowser's army. He got moved to the area we know as SMB3's world 2 as his brother went interstellar to Melty Molten Galaxy. At his desert camp, Rathanael came to have many friends, Araquiel, Kalmiya, Leo, Virgil, and many others. Thankfully, Bowser hadn't kidnapped Peach at this time so the Hammer Bros division in the dunes didn't have too much to worry about, a few rumbles with Toads and all that jazz. How did Rathanael come to hate most of Bowser's inner circle besides King Koopa himself? Well, it's pretty clear how arrogant Bowser Jr is. He looks down on everyone, even the koopa kids. It's no wonder even the peaceful yoshi clan hates him. Getting back to the point, Bowser Jr shows no compassion for hammer bros, and he decided to send Rathanael's group on a suicide mission near the Desert Castle, and all but Rathanael and Leo made it back. For his "cowardly" actions of coming back, Bowser Jr and Morton Koopa gave him and Leo a dishonorable discharge, without King Koopa's authorization. All the koopa kids humiliated them, and they were so glad it was private. Rathanael went to Goomboss for help, but Goomboss said that it was not his business and that it was troublesome enough trying to keep the Goombas in good supply. Rathanael, didn't like being held up. There's no way he could get to King Koopa himself as he is a very busy koopa. Nevertheless, Rathanael went his own way. He does and gives small quests and trades to nearly everyone he comes upon. |

Re: Character Creation/Approval ThreadThe RPGs are really the only way someone is going to be able to get enough backstory and general idea of how to create their character beyond a simple and cliche Toad or Yoshi character. |

Re: Character Creation/Approval ThreadRathanael: Good! I think the background is fine but definitely feel free to add more to it. I like the part where you mentioned the friends he made. I think you could develop the relationship he has with them a little bit more, and I also think you should integrate more of his laid-back/stern/narcissistic personality into the background. Approved, nonetheless. (also, SMB3's World 2 is called Desert Land)

Gender: Male Age: Teenager Species: Human Appearance: Caucasian Skin, Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes, Light Blue Hat with a 'T,' Light Blue Shirt, Blue Overalls, White Gloves, Brown Shoes, Fairly Small Nose, About Mario's Height Personality: Confident, a bit smart-mouthed, and doesn't immediately trust someone until they prove they're on his side. He is also heroic, and is very protective of his friends and family. He isn't above killing when necessary, though. There are two sure-fire ways to make him mad; Saying his name wrong, and threatening those close to him. He tends to break the fourth wall a lot. Background: Tyler was just a young gamer who thought he was from the 'real world,' until a strange anomaly blasted him into the Marioverse, his true home. There, he discovered that he is actually the Mario Bros' cousin, and he has the abilities to match. Tyler typically utilizes his own version of Mario's firebrand, the waterbrand, however he will use other elements when he feels the need. He once went on a year-and-a-half hiatus, during which he was brainwashed under Bowser's control. Luckily, the spell was eventually broken by two of Bowser's own minions, an act which has gone unpunished. Tyler had single-handedly out-smarted Doopliss on one occasion.

Re: Character Creation/Approval ThreadI know, that's the problem. Only Marioverse characters are allowed right now; this means your character must be a species that is found in the Mario universe.

Re: Character Creation/Approval ThreadYour character must be a typical species from the Mario universe. This means no humans, Koopalings, or any other species that doesn't have nonspecific members (i.e. generic Goombas exist in the Mario universe, generic humans don't).

The only humans that really matter are Mario, Luigi, Wario, Peach, Daisy, etc. and thus aren't playable characters. Miis and the random golfers from N64 don't count. |

Name: Varuo (Pronounced formally "Varo-ü", informally "Varü".) Gender: Male Age: Near adulthood Species: Anti Guy. BEFORE YOU SAY ANTI-GUYS ARE TOO SPECIFIC AND ARE UNIQUE, IN PAPER MARIO THERE ARE MULTIPLE ANTI GUYS. Appearance: Although there is not a large difference between Varuo and most Anti Guy, he can always be recognized by his fedora with two blue gears on its left side. Spoiler: show Personality: Varuo is usually kept to himself, unless somebody is in need of help. He doesn't consider himself a hero, more like a sherlock. He's not that open to friendship, and befriending him is something you probably shouldn't expect to happen. Most would ask him why he's this way, he simply replies "Because I didn't heed my warning." And that's all he would say. Most have their own theory as to what this warning is, but only he knows for sure. But you probably could bribe him with a lemon candy... Background: Varuo knows hardly anything about his family. Not that he really even cares, anyways. He was given to a Yoshi tribe by his family with orders to be eaten, however the Yoshi that was his care taker faked agreement. This Yoshi instead cared for Varuo and raised him for some time. At age 5, Varuo was coming home from a school in the Yoshi tribe's territory when the Koopa Troop invaded and war broke out. Varuo's care taker had only just managed to send Varuo away before he was captured by the Koopa Troop. It was then he realized why is name was Varuo. It was a warning. When Varuo awoke next, he was laying on a dock beside a fedora that was much too big on him on the time. Inside of the hat was white text that read "With Pride". Something that his care taker had always repeated to Varuo. Varuo would become a wanderer for the next few years. He went to various food stands and acted as a beggar. The townspeople were very generous and would give him servings of food and some change so with enough savings he could build a small shelter. Fast forward about 6 months, Varuo was living peacefully in a small but manageable shelter and had found an interest in fishing. Occasionally townsfolk would gather near and watch him. When he caught his first Cheep Cheep and brought it ashore, they all cheered for him and he felt like he found a home again. 1 year, 6 months later from last timeskip Varuo was living in an actual apartment that no 7 year old could even imagine to own. The townsfolk offered high prices on his fish and sunken items. He would continue to live comfortably for a while. The people there adored him in his oversized (at the time) hat and he almost became a staple to the town. As time went on, there was a bit of inflation, until finally, a few days before Varuo turned 13, the economy completely crashed. Prices were unreasonably high and food was becoming very difficult to come by. He continued to fish and got even higher offers, but that meant less now that there was so much inflation. He was running out of options. He soon wouldn't be able to afford the bills for his home, so he set out on a journey, and just goes wherever the wind takes him. He still travels now and hasn't really settled anywhere yet. He hopes to find a place he can actually fit in and find a permanent home. [NOTE: EDITED ON MY PHONE. EXPECT A LOT OF TYPOS, TRY TO JUST IMPLY BASED ON CONTEXT) Well hopefully that didn't completely suck ass and wasn't a waste of your time. Tell me any flaws and I'd be glad to edit them. (expecting to hear something about the bio, because it's horribly structured)
