This level was easy and fun to play.
The Good
+ It was easy enough to fit as a first level of an episode, but challenging enough to not be too boring for the player.
+ Music choice was nice.
+ The structure of the level (placement of blocks, NPCs) felt really natural.
+ NPC placement added a good amount of difficulty.
The Bad
- There wasn't enough variation in the level as a whole; it was kind of monotonous at times. Maybe add a small secret coin cave or something to spice it up just a little.
- I felt that the transitions between wood and beach were a bit too abrupt sometimes. This may be due to their graphical contrast.
- There were some stretches of blocks that were a little bit too linear; this could potentially be fixed by adding less abrupt transitions.
- You could use a few more background objects throughout the whole level, but moreso in the beach parts. This may be what is causing some of the other stuff I mentioned above.
Tips
= Although it's cool you used my beach tileset, I don't think those graphics are really good to begin with. They don't fit as well with the wood tileset.
= If you ever plan to use this as the first level of an episode, I would advise designing the first world (or maybe even your episode's story) around the same theme. Beach levels typically don't fit with normal grassland levels that are commonly seen in first worlds.
Overall, there wasn't much to this level. What was there, however, was pretty good.
Score: 7/10
