    • Ahh, Super Mario Land 2. This Level was very nice. The designwise focuses a lot to SML2 but different because not only you have to walk right all the time, on this Level you have to go left first, then on a different section down and at last right on another section which makes it into a different variety of rooms and also challenges. Enemies and other Objects are typical SML2. Everything about the Enemy placements to Platforms is very well made but the Power Up placements are a bit low. Also on the horizontal Platform Lines, I can see them that they are kind of floating instead of be connected completly on the Line which is kinda strange to me. What I also really like is how there are different colors on each section which makes it even more detailed to all of those Rooms. Not a very long Level with also a bit of a secret places you can get (if you are big) which was fun.

    • I enjoyed this a lot! The design and enemy placement through the entire level are just the right sort that give you ample ability to plan your next move, but still make it very challenging to get through each part. Those are my favorite sorts of obstacles in a level. Every challenge is creative and felt a little different in its own way, and I can't point out any flaws from a difficulty standpoint. It really is just exceptionally well done. You even added a sequence of enemies near the start to get a 1up off of that wasn't especially obvious, so good work on that. The SML2 lego theme is also quite original for SMBX, and I really like the look of everything. The only thing I could really nitpick about is that the free 3up is a little silly, but that doesn't hurt much and the rest of the experience is fantastic.

    • OH MAN IT'S SML2. I like how this level was built. It was fairly difficult, but handed out rewards for keeping the powerups it provided. Length was nice and I liked the colour swaps between the sections. At points I thought the rewards were kinda overkill, like a 3Up for keeping the checkpoint powerup, but at least something I guess. I'd have loved to see these graphics remade in 16 bit and not gameboy quality though so that's kind of a disappointment. It also made the floor clash with all the other graphics a bit.
Guess: A member of this forum? No idea.

    • Interesting level. The idea behind the level is pretty neat, although odd to get my head around at first. Loving the variety in this place too, it had some moments of great challenge as well, so good job with that! There were some areas that felt too crowded by enemies in my opinion though. Other areas were cramped too, not helping the unfair difficulty at times. Overall though, good job!

    • My goodness, this person definitely put forth the time to make these 2.5D lego-like bricks in and they even fit in with the SML2 enemies. Not only did this look great, but it also played great and was surprisingly intense at certain parts. The placement of enemies felt just right, yet the overall design was rather sub-par. I'd say, whoever made this level got me to respect SML and SML2 a little bit more than I did before.

I knew already that someone made a Mario Zone level bc I was on the irc when TNT was playing and he was like "wtf why are there lego stones in this level"

Well, it looks really neat, only complaint is that the "lego" stones look a bit blant and 8bit because they only use 3 different shades... :/ maybe add a some more shading next time

Four if you don't count the white. I went for the SMW style and hence the sparingness in detail. Some sort of texture would have helped but I wanted the lego bricks to be completely smooth. Some sort of reflection could have worked, perhaps.

Ah, now that you say it I can kinda see this being SMW styled. Well, maybe I'm just too used to SMB3's shading...

This level looks great and I'm eager to play it in the next Tower of Biased installment, but man, this hurts my eyes. The colors are extremely bright, in my opinion. Otherwise, though, I like this little Super Mario Land level. Keep it up, man.

Thanks! I made everything except for the the Koopas, Piranha Plants and the FIre Flower that were originally made by zephyr and the Bullet Bill, Guruguri (the thing that replaces Roto Disk), Bomb Bombs (the cannon pigs) and the Money Bag that were originally made by Tulip. I did some changes to all of these to make them look more SMW styled.

My playthrough of this Level:

@bossedit8's Review - Mario Zone - Level made by @Valtteri

Design:
The designwise of the whole Level takes place from a Gameboy game called Super Mario Land 2 but much more variety of colors involved. I really like the whole background too since they are covered with Lego Blocks but on a different color that really matches the foreground blocks that is also covered with Legos. The Lego details gives us also a nice Dimentional feel into it and not just completly flat like almost everything else in a 2D World. Decorations are nice due to the whole Legos and backgrounds that keeps it stayed as in the foreground, not that the whole background moves slowly than the foregrounds do. Nice detail. Secrets are also nicely done since they are rewardful and they are even in the same Section where you normally advance so you always see them. If you are big (Super Mario) you can get to them easily but if you are small you can't get to them. Very nice. Those Spikes have a different Hitbox at this Level because they are hurting you once you land on the Middle and not on the very top where the Spike ends which is a nice Touch to this Level. At the Checkpoint there is a Bell and if you hit it it actually animates like in SML2 which is very nice. This applies the same as at the end of the Level. After you hit the Bell at the end, after a few seconds a Star appears that Ends the Level.

NPC Placements:
Coin placements are very nice placed throughout the Level. At a few Secret Areas you can collect much more Coins than usual which is very good. The one place before the Midway Bell there is a Sack with a Letter 'M' on it which gaves you a lot of Money (or Coins if you want to be specific). Power up placements were ok. Kind of strictly based after the Midway Bell because once you lose a life and respawn there you Start in small and you have to deal with being small for like the rest of the vertical Section and a bit after a bit of these falling Platforming Section. Well, I know there is a reason as of why you are respawn being small and all that I have mentioned before because if you do get big there you gain the 3UP too easily once you are big (Super Mario) at the next Section were you are going right normally all the time until the very end. The rest of the whole Power Up placements was good enough. Enemy placements were very nice and makes you keep up to the Toys of playing through them. I really like the black Pig shooting black Cannonballs because you can actually jump on their projectiles which is a very nice idea because in SML2 you can jump on them too. Everything else it is basically the same but all the recolorations on the Enemies and Objects are very nice and fitting. Obstacles like jumping on Platforms, avoiding Bullet Bill Generators and Enemies (of course) was very nice, although a very few placements is a bit small to avoid those so it is better to Duckjump if a Area is small. Talking about those Platforms, while they are riding on a horizontal Linerider, they somehow float over them instead of actually touching on the Line which seems a bit weird to me. By the Piranha Plant from a Block that creates Vines, at the very top there is nothing that 'Blocks' it from the Piranha Plant, which means he will keep spawning Vines offscreen endlessly which also means he keeps making more NPC Objects. At least after 4 or 5 Blocks off the Sections Boundary he will stop from creating Vines if there is a Block on his way but he will keep producing more Vines instead. Well, I guess almost no one notices this kind of Stuff anyway but... yeah. Everything else was very nice, fun and challenging.

Overall Rating Score: 9.25

This Level was very fun with the whole SML2 Graphics, Styles and Gimmicks. You deserved a high Score.
