Plot:
How it will be run:
This is a collaborative project, meaning YOU MAKE THE LEVELS. However, due to a perceived lack of interest toward this project, it is being reduced from its former, overly ambitious 72+ level slots to only four level slots, with each level being a hideout for a different HSMBXC member (yes, you can even make the final level if you want to). This also means that all level types except for Forum Castles are being scrapped, and the "hacked forumer" role is also being scrapped (I'm also scrapping the resistance base). See the rules for more details:
Rules:
IF YOU WANT TO BE CREDITED AS A LEVEL DESIGNER, YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY SUBMIT A LEVEL FIRST.
"Level Designer" and "Distressed Forumer" now go in tandem. In other words, if you want to be a distressed forumer/appear in the project at all, YOU HAVE TO MAKE AND SUBMIT A LEVEL FIRST. If your level is accepted, you will appear as the distressed forumer of the level you made. Don't forget to describe what you want to look like in-game or provide a sprite to represent yourself in-game.
As mentioned before, only castle/fortress/building styled levels are allowed, as the levels are meant to represent the hideouts of the HSMBXC members. Although I'm willing to be lenient on what type of hideout you make, just be aware that it has to show some form of human occupation/fortification; don't expect to get away with making a generic grassland/cave/etc. level.
No Goombas or Goomba variations (ex: Para-Goombas, Galoombas, Switch Goombas, etc.) are allowed. Use the Troll-bots (Shy-Guy sprite-swap) under the Graphics section of this post as cannon fodder instead.
Although you can make the levels, don't make the bosses; I'll make the bosses. Feel free to make mini-bosses, though; just keep in mind that mini-bosses can be rejected even if the rest of the level is accepted.
Level slots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, but don't slap a level together and expect to make it into the project: if your level isn't deemed good enough (or appropriate), I'll send you a PM letting you know what needs to be changed, and if someone else takes your slot in that time, then too bad.
Mario will be the only player character allowed. No other player characters, nor Lua/LunaDLL modifications to Mario, are allowed. In fact, although you may use LunaLua, make sure that your level can be beaten without it. You never know what will break in the next update (never forget)
To make up for the fact that there will only be five levels, level submissions should have a decent amount of content. I'm not saying they should take Sanctuary Fortress 2 amounts of time to complete, but it is preferable to keep them about the same length as your typical The Best level.
Progress on my end:
Intro cut-scene: 93% (practically finished; just needs a bit of polish)
hub: 83% (awaiting levels)
Raster AI: 0%
Blueoak AI: 67.5% (only took a month! Heck yeah!)
Pixels AI: 0%
Michel AI: 0%
mid-game cut-scene: 5% (scrapped because 1st draft kinda sucked; will re-script later)
Final Boss AI: conceptualized
Ending cut-scene: 30.5% (awaiting distressed forumers)

Opps, Well, to late now, the logo has been made, And I Guess I'll post a screenshot of the ONLY level that has been started since we aren't in the level design stage yet.
EDIT:Crap, I'll have to make an imgur account, Because RMN Hates BMP hosting...
EDIT2:Done!
Ok, Thanks for signing up
Couple of Quick Questions, what them of castle would you like, and would SMB1 Bowser be a good representation of you?(I'll make sure the level maker makes the fight interesting)
Something I just realized, I meant to Launch this NEXT weekend
Reason being I'll be going somewhere THIS weekend, and I have most of my time on weekends. So I'll be absent, but feel free to sign up! I'll get to it when I get back.

1. Do a frozen/ice castle, preferably with the Tier 7 tileset in ToB7, to represent the fact that I like Frozen. Try to add Frozen references in the level as well as a hint that I'm the boss.
2. I'd rather you use an SMB3 Bowser really, but if you want to use the SMB1 Bowser physics, do a sprite replacement.
Add me: do an Airship level with me as the captain while riding in a smaller airship.
I'd look like a TAOK character with ridiculously flowing hair.
Edit: also I'd like to be a GFX designer.
Ok, for now we haven't figured out exactly how many worlds we will have, we will do that in the next phase, But I can guarantee we will have at least 5, ending with a boss battle against hacked Joey.
Also @ DimitrisPowerSeven
Sure! The more the merrier! We'll discuss the details of mini/boss fights when we start making levels.
TangledLion: my level should have an Elsa decoy at the end of the level, just like with the Mecha Elsa in ToB6. This is going to be a pre-boss that must be fought before I appear and am actually fought. There should be one of Valtteri's Frozen covers playing in one of the sections as well, preferably Let it Go.
In other words, my level resembles an Elsa castle and is half Frozen-themed.
I'd like to be a hacked forumer.
For the castle, i want a shadow-ish one, kinda like Count Bleck's in Paper Mario(there's also a tileset of it in the New SMBX CGFX Pack).
For the boss, i want to be represented with that sprite: https://www.mediafire.com/?lxq3adl3ajqb2a0 , i'd like it to replace Mother Brain, but if you have a better idea for a replacement, it can replace something else tho.
Also, this project looks promising, looking forward to it!
Ok, well I'm leaving now, so I don't have time to mark down everybody who signed up but please note the the slots I put up are bare-bones for what we need at least, The GFX and Level designers are Infinite, only judges and the WM Maker are limited.
I'll Probably be on again sometime Sunday night, perhaps tomorrow, I'll deal with all the signups then.
